For those of you who paid good money to go and see the disaster that was Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the following news may scare you to death - so prepare yourself. According to Stuff magazine, Harrison Ford has agreed to come back as the whip wielding archaeologist one more time, and will be given an "emotional and exciting" send-off. Apparently Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year, and the new adventure will be an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet in a plot that involves the Bermuda Triangle.
According to Stuff magazine's source, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have been working on a script and it's almost complete. Unfortunately, the source also reveals that Shia LaBeouf, who played Indiana's son Mutt Williams, will make an appearance in the new film. I have never been a fan.
Shia LaBeouf has been particularly harsh in his assessment of Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, including his own performance. Recently he revealed to the LA Times that:
"You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg, who directed]. But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault. Simple."
On Spielberg LaBeouf was direct and to the point:
"I'll probably get a call. But he needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. And believe me, I talk to him often enough to know that I'm not out of line. And I would never disrespect the man. I think he's a genius, and he's given me my whole life. He's done so much great work that there's no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball you drop the ball."
According to Stuff, rather than focus on special effects, the fifth Indiana Jones film will try and hark back to the old fashioned way the original films were shot.
Let's pray that this new instalment is nothing like Indiana Jones 4.
