Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 will no longer be released in 3D according to a statement from Warner Bros.
"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey."
Apparently Warner Bros. has run out of time to convert the film properly and will not be presenting a 3D version when the movie launches November 19. However, they are still looking at a 3D release for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 next year.
Is this a sign of fading support for 3D movies from big studios (what's the point if a 2D version sells just as well?) or is Warner Bros. merely ensuring they don't come out with a sub-standard 3D version which distracts rather than adds to the experience. The recent Clash of the Titans remake demonstrates just how bad a bad 3D conversion can be.Related Articles/Posts
