"I'm starting; I'm having my six meals a day," he said.
Hugh Jackman previously worked with Darren Aronofsky in the excellent science fiction / fantasy classic The Fountain.
The script is by Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the complex and twist filled crime thriller, The Usual Suspects, starring Kevin Spacey. Filming of X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is set to start March 2011.Reportedly the film will feature Wolverine dealing with ninjas in Japan as he struggles to choose between following his killer animal instincts or a life under a samurai's code of honour and respect.
"It's going to be the best one, I hope," said Jackman. "This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He's kind of dark... [Aronofsky's] going to make it fantastic. There's going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure."
Darren Aronofsky is a surprising but extremely welcome choice as director and should (if his previous work is anything to go by) add extra depth and subtly to the Wolverine story. Equally, Christopher McQuarrie should be able to turn in an excellent screenplay. Another film to look out for!
