13 minutes of Blade Runner promotional footage

ridley scottRidley Scott's Blade Runner sequel is coming and while most of us wait patiently (I'm more impatient than patient) here’s some documentary footage from the original film's production shown at a convention six months before Blade Runner first hit theatres in 1982. Watch a very young Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford on set. The quality is not 100%, but it’s an intriguing 13 minute glimpse into the film long before it achieved the recognition and praise it eventually found (I came across this on FirstShowing.net).

Speaking of the Blade Runner sequel, talking to The Independent recently about Harrison Ford's character Deckard, Scott said, "I don't think it'll be Harry [starring]” but I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing."

Blade Runner will shortly see a 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition release from Warner Bros., with even more extra documentary footage no doubt. Pre-order it here from Amazon if the last comprehensive release wasn’t enough to sate your desires.

Finally, look out for our Prometheus review later this week. We missed the media screenings, but we'll be there on launch night (fortunately reviews so far appear mostly positive). After Prometheus, Scott will direct The Counsellor before he starts on Blade Runner 2.
