Posters and quotes from J. J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie

There hasn't been much news regarding the upcoming Star Trek movie prequel directed by Lost creator J.J. Abrams lately, apart from what we've reported previously, but four new Star Trek posters can now be downloaded from the official Star Trek movie website and E! News has a couple of interesting quotes from Abrams.

The image below is an amalgam of all 4 posters. Top left is Eric Banner who plays the new villain, Nero. Top right is Zoe Saldana, who plays Communications Officer Uhura. Bottom left is Zachary Quinto, best know as the villain in Heroes. And finally, but most importantly, bottom right is Chris Pine, who plays the new Captain Kirk. Combined the separate posters form the traditional Star Trek logo.

Abrams has revealed that the new movie will focus on how Spock and Kirk's unique bond was formed.

"I never saw how Kirk and Spock became so connected," Abrams said. "That's what this movie does, and it does it with the entire family of the Enterprise. It's not really about the visual effects."

He also revealed that he wanted to remove the “kitschy quality” from the new prequel.

"We all have the iPhone, which does more than the (Star Trek) communicator," Abrams said. "There's a kind of kitschy quality that must go, if it's going to be something you believe is real. Our Star Trek is not parody."

The new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie is due out in December this year.
