Ironman 2 may be converted into 3D

ironman2In another sign that 3D is finally taking off in a big way (as if the Avatar trailer wasn't enough!), AinItCool news reports that Jon Favreau, director of the upcoming sequel Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr., is considering converting the entire film into digital 3D. Apparently studio heads experimented by converting one minute of the sequel into 3D as a demo. They were so impressed with what they saw they put out bid requests to three special effects companies to see exactly how much the conversion process would cost, and how long it would take.

I'm looking forward to Iron Man 2, and would love to see it in 3D. Although Iron Man has its flaws, it is one of the better comic to big screen adaptations to come out recently. Especially if you compare it to the two Hulk adaptations. Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role is a massive plus.

In Iron Man 2, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (played by Downey Jr.) is joined again by Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and an extended cast of villains, including Nick Fury (Samula L Jackson), Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).

Iron Man 2 is due out May 7, 2010.
