There’s been a lot of speculation and contradictory talk about the new Ghostbusters 3 movie, both from original stars Bill Murray (Ghostbuster Dr. Peter Venkman) and Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbuster Dr. Raymond Stantz), especially regarding the state of the script; so it’s good to hear what appears to be some solid news from Director Harold Ramis. Like Murray and Aykroyd, Ramis also starred as a Ghostbuster in the original films, playing Ghostbuster Dr Egon Spengler.
It’s been more than 25 years now since the iconic original, so it’s about bloody time!
Talking to Heeb Magazine, Ramis revealed that they would start filming in June 2010 and are aiming for a 2011 release date.
“Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec Ghostbuster 3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel” he said.
"We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ".
With luck, soon we'll be able to provide you with further details about the plot and casting details about the younger stars.
