James Bond 23 officially announced: Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes

bond23The 23rd James Bond film has finally received an official announcement and release date. After numerous setbacks, mainly due to financing issues with MGM, James Bond 23 was officially announced by EON Productions and MGM Studios. As expected, Daniel Craig is returning for a third James Bond film after his outstanding work on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The screenplay will be written by former James Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, as well as newcomer John Logan (the writer behind Leonardo DiCaprio's The Aviator). Sam Mendes, most famous for American Beauty, will be directing.

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, together with Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., announced that the 23rd James Bond film's production will commence late 2011 for a worldwide release on November 9, 2012.

Sam Mendes is a great director and Daniel Craig an excellent Bond, so this is definitely a film to watch out for. November 2012 can't come soon enough.
