David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to reprise their roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully in a new X-Files film, scheduled to start filming in November. It's been a long time between drinks: the first X-Files film premiered in 1998.
X-Files creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotniz are close to completing the final script.
At a recent press conference to promote his new television series Californication, Duchovny said he was looking forward to bringing back Mulder because "he's cool".
If you believed that a new film could lead to a new X-Files television series though, think again: Gillian Anderson recently declared that the chances of X-Files Season 10 were virtually zero.
"It's never going to happen," she said. "It's just not on the cards. I don't think we have the energy for it, either of us."
I'm finding it hard to recall what happened in the first film, but I'm pretty sure it had something to with aliens, the FBI, and green blood.
The film has a tentative end of 2008 release date.
