So far the YA sci-fi novel Feedback has received five 5 star reviews, one 4 star, one 3.5 star, and one 3 star. Not bad for a novel still only available as an ebook, which the author D L Richardson admits can be difficult to sell. Her debut novel The Bird With The Broken Wing was released in print in October 2012 and the sales of the print book have blitzed ebook sales. Not surprising then that the author and her fans can’t wait for Feedback to be released by her publisher Etopia Press in print, which is due early 2013.
So why the five star reviews? D L Richardson’s second novel Feedback is sucking readers in from the very first chapter. “Epic read” “Fantastic” “As exciting as an adult thriller with nonstop action” are just some of the phrases used by reviewers and readers to sum up this young adult sci-fi adventure novel. “Feedback has spy elements so it’s got trivia on spies, the CIA, conspiracy theories, bad guys with fast cars, bombs, action and adventure…all wrapped around a nice feel good story about 3 teens who go from underdogs to heroes."
D L Richardson says about the inspiration for writing Feedback, “Publishers are always saying that they’re looking for unique stories. I was watching a show on organ transplants and how it was perceived that the memories of the deceased were stored in the organs and I thought ‘wow, what if the organ donor was a spy? Now, that is a unique concept.’ So off I went to write a story about kids who were kidnapped for the memories retained in a dead spy’s organs."
It’s true that she has penned one helluva unique story with Feedback and the reviews back it up. Does the author have a favorite quote form a reviewer? “Definitely. One of my favorite quotes is this one from Bookloversity who says ‘...My favorite aspect of Richardson’s writing is how unapologetic she is. Her descriptions and details of each teen’s situation, their disease and what it’s doing to their bodies, is, at times, raw and makes it that much easier to sympathize with each of them...’. I like that my novels contain honest writing and honest topics such as suicide, post traumatic stress, organ failure, yet I tell the stories using paranormal settings and characters so the realism isn’t too in your face and the paranormal isn’t too unbelievable.”
D L Richardson’s books are widely available at online retailers.
