RIESE: KINGDOM FALLING STEAMPUNK EPIC ONLINE NOW AT SYFY.COM WITH AN EYE TOWARDS TELEVISION
NEW YORK, New York – November 5th, 2010 – Production company Riese Productions Ltd. is happy to announce that Riese: Kingdom Falling is online now for US audiences on Syfy.com and is also available via Sony’s PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox and Amazon. The series is also being considered for television development based on the reception of the webseries.
Narrated by Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary), the 10-part series stars a collection of local talent including Christine Chatelain (The Collector); Sharon Taylor (Stargate: Atlantis); Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Allison Mack (Smallville); Ryan Robbins (Caprica); Patrick Gilmore (Stargate: Universe); Peter Kelamis (Stargate: Universe); Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica) and Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary).
The web production has already made headlines around the globe in the New York Times, The Globe & Mail and the Vancouver Sun. It launched on YouTube in November 2009 and was viewed 1.4 million times before being taken down by its distributor, Fireworks International, a branch of Content Films.
Riese: Kingdom Falling won the Streamy Award for Best Cinematography in a Web Series with a further three nominations for Best Sound Design, Best Foreign Series and Art Direction. The series was shot in Vancouver, BC, created by Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff, and produced by Galen Fletcher and Nicholas Humphries.
In addition, the creators of Riese: Kingdom Falling have teamed up with Vancouver based Genius Factor Games to release an iPhone / iPod Touch game. Available now, the virtual RPG card battle game will offer series fans and newcomers alike the chance to utilize alternative media to further enhance the existing story and remain immersed in the haunting world of Riese: Kingdom Falling. It will also feature the voice of web pioneer and trail blazer Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog). More information is available at http://www.geniusfactorgames.com/games/riese.

After watching the pilot to Fox’s ambitious TV time travelling dinosaur fest called Terra Nova, I am praying that when I watch the next episode the entire cast gets eaten by dinosaurs (in fact, that hope is the only reason I’ll be able to sit through another one). No movie release in 2011 was more misunderstood and unfairly maligned as a result of misunderstanding than Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch. Odds are you’ll disagree with that statement. Finally having had the opportunity to watch Nicholas Winding Refn’s Valhalla Rising, I now appreciate why it was received so well at film festivals and yet failed to get a wide theatrical release.
