Futurama renewed for a seventh season.

fry_frozenGood news everyone, the animated comedy science fiction TV show Futurama has been renewed for a seventh season. After being revived in 2008 after a five year absence, the sixth season of Futurama has been such a hit that Comedy Central has already signed on the dotted line for more. Futurama stars Philip J. Fry, a pizza delivery boy from New York. On New Year's Eve 1999, he accidentally becomes cryogenically frozen and isn't thawed out until 2999.

A seventh season of Futurama will be split between 2012 and 2013, while the current sixth season ends this September. According to Digital Spy, the seventh season will be 13 episodes in length. Futurama is being broadcast on the Comedy Central channel in the US.

The show’s executive producer, David X Cohen, spoke to SFX magazine:

“We can’t predict what’s going to be the hottest website in 2013 but we can predict the schedule. In 2012, we’re doing a presidential election episode with Nixon’s head running for re-election and Leela getting involved as campaign manager for his earnest opponent. Another one is the doomsday prediction of 2012, so we have our 3012 doomsday prediction from an ancient Martian calendar.”

Talking about the current season six he said:

“Our second to last episode is ‘Overclockwise’, which is a big science fiction story that hopefully has a touching emotional story attached to it. Our final episode is called ‘Reincarnation’, where the idea of Futurama is reincarnated in three mini-episodes. One is a black-and-white Fleisher-style version, one is an ’80s pixellated videogame style and the last is anime style. It’s a very high-concept episode and I’m quite proud of it. We saved it for last so we could throw massive manpower at it. It was a huge effort by the animators because they had to redesign the entire universe three times.”

It's all good as far as I'm concerned. The more Futurama we get, the better I feel.
