Current Exhibitions
Seasonal and rotating presentations
Seasonal exhibitions rotate through the west alcove and corridors of the central pavilion, and the full south pavilion galleries. The permanent galleries remain open year-round. All exhibitions are displayed during the operating hours of the park.
The Voyager Record at Fifty
West alcove, Gallery One
Reproduction pressings of the Voyager Golden Record mounted on acrylic display stands, anodized copper-gold aluminum finish. Selection committee correspondence, photocopies of handwritten letters under glass in chronological order along the west wall. A playback station with period-appropriate turntable, stylus, and tube amplifier mounted on a wooden console. Printed timeline of the Voyager missions on the south wall, text on kraft paper, mounted on concrete.
Blueprints for Departure: Generation Ship Design 1950–1980
Reading room adjacent to Gallery Six
Thirty-two architectural and engineering drawings mounted and matted on neutral stock, hung at approximately 1.5 meters around all four walls. Subjects include hull profiles, habitat cross-sections, life support diagrams, and propulsion system configurations. Most are reproductions from institutional archives; four are original pencil drawings on translucent vellum. A printed catalog of the drawings is available at the entrance to the room.
The Illustrated Cosmos: Chesley Bonestell
Corridor between central and south pavilions
Fourteen paintings reproduced at original exhibition scale, mounted in period-appropriate gilt frames. Titles include Saturn as Seen from Titan (1944), The Exploration of Mars (1956), The Planet Venus (1940), and eleven others. Prints on museum-quality paper, framed under UV-protective glass. Mounted at approximately 1.5 meters along the corridor walls, approximately 4x6 feet each.
Permanent Galleries
The permanent galleries in the central pavilion—Galleries One through Five—remain open daily during park hours. Gallery Six, the upper-level reading room, is open during the same hours. The south pavilion—Galleries Seven and Eight—houses long-term rotating installations that change seasonally.
Exhibition Rotation
Exhibitions rotate seasonally, approximately every four months. The permanent galleries are open year-round. Printed exhibition guides are available at the entrance desk.
